Guitar José Tatay Cuenca de 1983

An ideal classical guitar for lovers of vintage guitars.

Luthier José Tatay Cuenca

José Tatay Cuenca was a Valencian (Spain) luthier of the 20th century. He is the heir to the Tatay company, founded around 1889 by Don Vicente Tatay Alabau, with over a century’s tradition of craftsmanship.
Grandfather Vicente ran one of the most prestigious guitar-making businesses of the time. His instruments were distributed worldwide, and Valencian guitars were appreciated by professionals. In 1942, he left the helm to his descendants, who decided to set up a company to continue the business: “Sociedad Hijos de Vicente Tatay, S. R. C.”. His heirs have brilliantly maintained the prestige of Tatay know-how.
