1958 Eduardo Ferrer guitar
An ideal classical guitar for lovers of vintage guitars.
The famous luthier Eduardo Ferrer
Nephew of Benito Ferrer, founder of the famous Granada school, Eduardo Ferrer is one of Spain’s most famous luthiers. He was the master of most of Granada’s guitar makers. These included José Castaño, Milan, Juan López, Miguel Robles, Manuel Fernández, Francisco Manuel Díaz, Manuel López, Antonio Marín, his own son José Ferrer and many others.
Eduardo Ferrer was born in 1905. At the age of ten or twelve, he was apprenticed to his uncle Benito Ferrer. He took over his uncle’s workshop on the latter’s death in 1925. His life was a long adventure: a penniless apprentice, he lived through the war, selling guitars for a pittance. When it came to lutherie, he followed in his uncle’s footsteps, perpetuating the traditional methods of Benito Ferrer and Antonio de Torres. He also helped train classical guitar makers in Japan. Between 1966 and 1968, he spent three months a year there, showing Yamaha workers how to make guitars.
